Men's Hair Through the Decades

Cut.com produced a series of videos that traced history through various hairstyles. For black men, our hair has been traditionally linked with changing sociopolitical climates. But we've also seen style that coincide with movements in the culture, of music, art, and entertainment. From the jazz age of the Harlem Renaissance, distinguished service in WWII and Black Panther activism, to Hendrix, Basquiat, and Kid 'N Play, the strands run deep in American history as a whole.
