Everyone has those pictures. You know, the ones where you look perfect, but the middle of your forehead and your nose are extremely shiny. It looks like you just put a handful of Vaseline on your face. Because of the embarrassment, you quickly untag yourself from your friend’s IG post. And their Facebook album. You might even text them to casually leave it out of all future communication.
Trust me, we’ve all been there. But why go through the stress when you can end the issue all together? It’s time to take care of your T-Zone.
So what exactly is your T-Zone? Do this exercise: Take your finger and draw a straight line across your forehead. Now, draw a line going down your face starting from the middle of your forehead to your chin. All the places the “T” has touched is your T-Zone, or the area that marks your forehead, nose, chin, and around your mouth.
Knowing your T-Zone is very important. These highlighted areas contain a higher number of oil glands than others, which result in that greasy glow we all hate. Also, when these glands work overtime, we'll see breakouts and clogged pores. By recognizing these potential problem areas and adjusting your cleansing regimen appropriately, you will notice a significant change in your appearance and skin feel. This can include switching to a natural facial soap, using a new moisturizer and even trying a facial mask (trust me, it works).
Avoid using alcohol based cleansers and limit washing your face with a gentle cleanser to only two times per day. Even if your face feels super greasy, 'over-washing' your face can irritate your skin and the drying effect of the cleansers can cause your skin to produce more oil, which is the exact opposite of what you want. Some options include this coconut based cleanser:
Or this tea tree oil based cleanser:
So, why should you care about your T-Zone? That’s pretty self-explanatory. Can’t slide in the DM’s with a greasy-faced selfie.
You’re welcome.
